Workshop on Elderly’s everyday practices as a design approach, Copenhagen, Denmark
Yanki was invited to participate in a discussion through skype. It was a workshop using several different disciplines to debate the methodology of design research for the older population. The meeting orientated itself towards experiences in design, using communities of everyday practice and situated elderliness as a design approach. Originally the notion of communities of practice was used in understanding the situated learning processes in organisations, but it has also become quite influential in participatory design as a way of understanding relations between different groups of users in a specific context (Wenger, 1998). In this workshop focus was on how design researchers can use the notion of communities of practice as a design approach when working with the elderly.
